Anchorage point, mechanical requirements

An anchorage point can, for example, be an I-beam, scaffolding or another point that:

• withstands 10 kN (1000 kg) for three minutes
• has a breaking load greater than 15 kN.

The anchorage point with associated connection device can either be permanent, such as a horizontal cable or a guard rail, or temporary, such as a sling, a beam rider or an anchorage hook. Link to the film.

When must personal protective equipment be used?

Personal protective fall equipment must be used:

• in lifts, where there is a risk of collision
• in temporary lifts of individuals using crane and work cage
• when erecting guard rails
• when working at a height of more than two metres without guard rail
• when erecting scaffolding
• when working on roofs

IMPORTANT: Fall protection must be used when the difference in levels is greater than two metres or where there are objects below that it would be dangerous to fall on. If there is no collective fall protection, such as a guard rail, personal fall protection equipment must be used.
